Get Ready to Explore with Ventura Rock Choir

We want to be a local version of  Irelands' "Casual Choir", Canada's "Choir Choir Choir!", Australias "Pub choir" or the "One-Day Choir".

We will reach back to the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's, but our focus will be on music published after the year 2000.  Think Maroon 5, Adele, Lady Gaga, Gnarls Barkley, Pink, Jason Mraz, Imagine Dragons, BTS, Ed Sheeren,  Chainsmokers, Miley Cyrus, etc.

Modern arrangements that retain the essence of the original pop hits.  No boring "Choirified" music here.

No. Just have a passion to sing. We cater to beginners and amateurs. We cater to natural "ear singers" so you don't have to read music at all. Just listen, learn it, and sing it. 

This is an Adult choir, our core is between 18-85 years old.  All races, genders, abilities, and experience levels are welcome.  LGBTQ+ friendly. Our philosophy is treat everyone with respect.

No politics. No religion. No whining. No assholes.

No prior choir experience is required. We will teach you. Our harmonies are usually simple 2, 3, or 4 part arrangements.  The four parts correspond to (SATB) Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Bass. 

We might also sing some (TTBB) which is lower voices Tenor, Tenor, Baritone, and  Bass.

You do NOT need to read sheet music to sing with us.  

We will provide the lyrics on paper or projected on a screen.  

We will also provide MP3 audio learning tracks for each vocal part so you can listen and learn by ear at home.  Sheet music will also be available. 

Before each  session you listen to the vocal tracks for the song(s) being worked that week. You listen and sing along to that in the car, at home, in the shower, etc. This lets you get familiar with the notes and words. We then teach the song at the session, teaching and learning each part as we go. It doesn't have to be perfect. 

No (and Yes). We usually sing with full instrumental accompaniment. This comes in the form of Pro Grade backing Tracks. This keeps us all on key, and let's us reproduce the rhythm, syncopation, and dynamics of the original song.  It was a hit song so why change it?  We "Sing it like the Radio".  Buuut ... we can sing some acapella if desired by the group.
